APD arrests six repeat offenders during Harbor Freight shoplifting operation

APD’s Organized Crime Unit in conjunction with the Attorney General’s Office conducted a three-day operation at a local retailer that resulted in the arrests of six repeat offenders.

APD’s Organized Crime Unit in conjunction with the Attorney General’s Office conducted a three-day operation at a local retailer that resulted in the arrests of six repeat offenders.

During the operation at the Harbor Freight on Menaul, Georgia Close and Gilberto Flores were arrested for Felony Shoplifting and Conspiracy to Commit Felony Shoplifting as they joined efforts in stealing a $700 generator and other various tools. Flores admitted he had stolen from the location and another Harbor Freight in Albuquerque prior to being arrested for this incident. Both Close and Flores have extensive shoplifting history.

Shawn Langley was arrested for Receiving or Transferring a Stolen Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Langley was later confirmed as a repeat offender of Unlawful Taking of a Motor Vehicle and Receiving or Transferring a Stolen Motor Vehicle.

George Harney is also a repeat offender for Receiving or Transferring a Stolen Motor Vehicle and was arrested during the operation. The stolen vehicle Harney was driving had a passenger, Kenneth Hays, who had shoplifted bolt cutters from Harbor Freight. Hays was arrested for Shoplifting in addition to a felony warrant and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Harney was on probation and was confirmed a repeat shoplifter offender.

The sixth offender arrested was Larry Davis for misdemeanor Shoplifting and Eluding Police. Davis was a targeted individual for this specific tac plan as he was a repeat offender of Harbor Freight, but had not been identified or apprehended in previous incidents. Davis will also be issued a summons for the previous documented incident.
