Community Connect Security Camera Grant: EDo and South Broadway Application

The Community Connect Downtown Security Camera Program aims to enhance public safety by enabling property and business owners in the East Downtown (EDo) and South Broadway Metropolitan Redevelopment Area to purchase security cameras for their commercial properties and link them to the Albuquerque Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center (RTCC).

Scoring Criteria

  • A gross-receipt-generating business occupies the property;
  • Number of police or emergency reports filed or noted;
  • Proposed improvements will increase “eyes” and increase connection to the Real Time Crime Center;
  • Suitability of camera installation, viewpoints, and location;
  • Projects serving high-displacement-risk neighborhoods and/or projects that support businesses owned by Black, Indigenous, People of Color, or women;
  • Projects demonstrating a need for grant funding in order to complete the project.

RTTC and APD will not actively monitor the installed security cameras. How do you intend to maintain safety at your place of business? Example: I will review the security footage every 72 hours, and if I witness any criminal activity, I will notify APD by calling 911 if it is an emergency and 242-COPS (2677) if it is a nonviolent crime.
