ALBUQUERQUE, NM — City Council President Klarissa J. Peña (District 3) and District 2 City Councilor Joaquín Baca will host a community meeting on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, bringing together the local lowrider community and business community to recount the previous work of the City’s Cruising Task Force, discuss the rules of the road, how to support local businesses, and celebrate the City's cruising culture.

"Cruising is a vibrant, historic piece of Albuquerque's cultural fabric, and it is a tradition we should celebrate together," said City Council President Klarissa J. Peña. "By reconvening the Cruising Task Force, we are creating a collaborative space where our dedicated lowrider community and our local businesses can work hand-in-hand to preserve this culture while promoting safety and mutual respect on our streets."

The meeting will review the work of the Cruising Task Force, discuss expectations of all motor vehicle operators, and hear perspectives from the local business community. These conversations are intended to help advance a shared understanding of how Albuquerque can support its cruising community while fostering positive relationships among lowriders, businesses, and the broader community.

"Old Town, Downtown, and our Central corridor thrives when everyone in our community feels heard and respected," said District 2 City Councilor Joaquín Baca. "This meeting is an important step in ensuring that our business owners and the cruising community can accompany each other positively, sharing the roads responsibly and supporting our local economy together."

Community members and interested stakeholders are encouraged to attend and participate in the conversation.
