16th Annual Route 66 West Fest Returns Saturday, Sept. 24th

Route 66 West Fest powered by Think Big will be at Ted M. Gallegos Community Center.

September 23, 2022

The West Central Community Development Group (WCCDG) has partnered with the Southwest Alliance of Neighbors (SWAN), La Familia Car Club, and the City of Albuquerque to host the 16th Annual Route 66 West Fest powered by Think Big on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at the Ted M. Gallegos Community Center from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

West Side City Councilor Klarissa Peña invites the entire community to join her at Route 66 West Fest as it is a free-admission, family-friendly event best described as; “a community meeting disguised as a fiesta,” which includes a day of live music by New Mexico’s own Cuarenta Y Cinco, Micky Cruz, Gonzalo, Burque Sol, Marachi Xochitl, with special performances by Estrella Sandoval, Maiya & Aria Marie, and Dancing Stars Dance Studio, and Poet Laureates Manuel and Sarita Gonzalez.

The event will also include a Show & Shine Car Show with a special appearance by the APD Lowrider and Disney’s Cars Mater and Lightning McQueen courtesy of the Unser Racing Museum.

Local and international food will be available at the food truck court with over 12 food and drink vendors.

The goals of the event are to:

  • Celebrate the successes in the redevelopment of West Central
  • Gather input from the community to identify needs
  • Invite and encourage new business to locate on West Central’s Historic Route 66
  • Inform the community on projects coming in the near future
  • Encourage community residents to get involved in their neighborhoods

Community organizations and government agencies will have informational booths to provide service and program information to community residents.
