Join the Ernie Pyle and Special Collections Libraries for a Momentous Celebration on National Ernie Pyle Day

In celebration of National Ernie Pyle Day, the Ernie Pyle and Special Collections Libraries invite the community to a special observance on August 5. This event will pay homage to the enduring legacy of the esteemed Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Ernie Pyle, and his profound contributions to American journalism.

The festivities begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Ernie Pyle Library, where attendees can enjoy an array of activities including a live performance by The Dawn Hotel and the opportunity to view Ernie Pyle memorabilia, delving into the extraordinary life and distinguished career of this revered writer.

Speakers from the Ernie Pyle Legacy Foundation and the Albuquerque Museum will discuss the contributions of Ernie Pyle to the world of journalism. Acclaimed author David Chrisinger will read from his recent book, The Soldier's Truth: Ernie Pyle and the Story of World War II, followed by a question and answer session and exclusive book signing.

Starting at 2 p.m. at the Special Collections library, David Chrisinger will present a slideshow about his travel experiences during the research for his book, discussing the locations he visited that still bear traces of Ernie Pyle's impact.

An Ernie Pyle-themed scavenger hunt will be available to participants from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Special Collections Library and the Albuquerque Museum collaborated on questions that allow participants to delve deeper into Ernie Pyle's rich history.
