Experience an Upgraded Library System at Albuquerque and Bernalillo County Public Library

Enhanced Library Portal: Checkouts, My Account, and App Now Available.

May 23, 2023 - The Albuquerque and Bernalillo County Public Library are excited to unveil a significant upgrade to its library system, a project that has been underway for more than 20 years. This enhanced system aims to provide better communication, including text messaging, and improved search capabilities. The new library portal will incorporate various features to simplify access to the library’s wide range of resources.

The library's website will also undergo a makeover, introducing a more user-friendly search function that allows users to explore both physical and digital materials. A brand-new online catalog is also included for effortless navigation.

Along with the updated system and website, the library will launch an app for patrons to manage their accounts, search the catalog, place holds, and access all their checkouts in one convenient location. More information about the app will be shared soon.

As the library transitions to the new system, there will be a temporary period of limited service from June 19-21. Most online services will be unavailable during this time. However, eBooks, eAudiobooks, eVideos, and eMagazines can be downloaded through Libby and Hoopla for offline use. Check outs of desired titles should be made before June 19, as the library will be unable to provide checkouts from Libby or Hoopla during this period.

While limited services will be in effect, patrons can still check out materials and read inside the building. Unfortunately, public PCs will be unavailable, and staff will not be able to create new library cards, update accounts, or replace cards during this time. Additionally, fines cannot be paid while the system is down.

The library encourages patrons to export or print their reading history and saved lists from the current system, as this information cannot be transferred. Once the migration is complete, customers will need to reset their PIN numbers, with the new default PIN being the last four digits of the library card number.

Upon logging into the updated My Account, customers must choose in their preferences if they want their checkout history recorded and if they wish to receive text message notifications, as well as the type of text notices they prefer.

The library eagerly anticipates introducing its new library portal, website, and app and are committed to delivering a smoother and more efficient experience for all patrons.
