Incendio performs at Summer Nights and Earl Klugh plays at Zoo Music.
June 24, 2013
This week's BioPark concerts feature a group of spirited Spanish guitar performers and a jazz icon. The Latin guitar world fusion group Incendio returns to Albuquerque for Summer Nights on June 27, and Earl Klugh brings his smooth jazz to Zoo Music on June 28.
Incendio is a self-produced group that is based out of Los Angeles. The band is made up of Liza Carbe, Jim Stubblefield, Nicole Falzone and Jean-Pierre Durand. Through word of mouth and over 170 performances each year, Incendio's instrumental Spanish guitar continues to gain popularity. (Wild Beats subscribers can listen in this week's free download.) Stuart, a Facebook fan, said, "Those that have seen them before think the band just keeps getting better and better, while those who come for their first Incendio experience are completely blown away." The band will make two stops in New Mexico this summer--the first being June 27 at the Botanic Garden.
On Thursdays, gates open at 6 p.m. and the concert starts at 7 p.m. Summer Nights guests can tour the Garden until 8 p.m. and the Aquarium until 9 p.m. Summer Nights is sponsored by Big-I 107.9 New Mexico's Country, 104.7 Albuquerque's Classic Country and the Best Western Rio Grande Inn.
Earl Klugh has been hailed as both prodigy and groundbreaker for the world of contemporary jazz. His career spans more than three decades and includes many awards, including a Grammy, Edison Music Award and a dozen Grammy nominations. With his signature finger style, Klugh makes complex, beautiful compositions on the acoustic guitar. Saxophonist Eric Marienthal will accompany Klugh at Zoo Music on June 28. The artists are excited for the opportunity to perform together, so be sure not to miss them!
On Fridays, gates open at 6 p.m. and the concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Zoo Music goers can enjoy animal exhibits until 8 p.m. Zoo Music is sponsored by KOB Channel 4, Channel 95.1 All the Hits, 100.3 The Peak, and the Best Western Rio Grande Inn.
The ABQ BioPark's concert series, Zoo Music and Summer Nights, offer an affordable and enjoyable evening. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors (65+) and $3 for children (3-12).
