Blooming with Pride: ABQ BioPark to Host Low-Sensory Pride Event for Adults
The ABQ BioPark is hosting an adult night in the spirit of Pride catered to those who are sensory-sensitive or neurodivergent. “Blooming with Pride” is open to adults 18+ and will be held June 13 from 6:30 pm to 9 pm at the Botanic Garden. The event will feature an evening of quiet beauty and connection surrounded by the natural serenity of the garden.
“This event offers a low-stimulation environment where LGBTQIA+ people and allies can celebrate at their own pace while connecting with nature,” said BioPark Education Curator Bethany Dunn. “This is our first Pride event here at ABQ BioPark, and we’re glad to offer a calmer alternative to traditional Pride fun.”
Each $40 ticket includes one complimentary cocktail or mocktail, and a variety of activities including:
- Silent disco under the garden concert pavilion.
- Plant-themed arts and crafts.
- Live arthropod viewing.
- Giant lawn games on the Festival Green.
- Meet and greet with a local drag queen.
- Resource booths from community partners.
Tickets must be purchased online in advance. Each ticket also includes fresh fruit and Dippin’ Dots, and more food will be available for purchase. Guests can also enjoy seating areas for reflection, soft lighting, and quiet zones to connect or simply unwind. Enjoy no pressure, no crowds — just community, comfort, and quiet celebration.
“Events like ‘Blooming with Pride’ help ensure that everyone can enjoy the BioPark’s beauty and feel a sense of belonging,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “This is about creating spaces where people can connect, relax, and celebrate in ways that feel right for them.”
While the majority of the Botanic Garden will be open for guests to enjoy, please note the BUGarium, Heritage Farm, and Japanese Garden will be closed for the event.
