Families can enjoy a wide variety of events this Mother's Day Weekend at the ABQ BioPark. If a special mother in your life enjoys...

Cute Babies and Cake

Come see Sarah and her new baby during the Orangutan Baby Shower and Gender Reveal on Saturday, May 11 at 10 a.m. at the Zoo. Eat cake, vote for your favorite baby name, talk to orangutan zookeepers and more! Bring a gift valued at $10 or more and receive one complimentary admission and be entered in a raffle to win memberships, behind-the-scenes tours and Zoo Music tickets. If you miss the shower, you can still see the orangutan mother and baby, as well as the giraffe calf, in their exhibits throughout the weekend, as long as the weather isn't too cold. You can also vote for your favorite animal mom on the BioPark's Facebook page.

Elegant Trees and Colorful Flowers

Experience the elegance of bonsai displays at the 17th Annual Ancient Art of Bonsai Show on Saturday or Sunday, May 11 or 12 from 9 a.m. - 5p.m. at the Botanic Garden. Members of the Albuquerque Bonsai Club will show off their best bonsai, answer questions and share tips in the Botanic Garden Showroom. Many of the Botanic Garden's outdoor exhibits are lush and blooming, including the irises at Heritage Farm and peonies at the Japanese Garden.

Backyard Birds and Amazing Animal Facts

Come to International Migratory Bird Day on Sunday, May 12 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Zoo to find out how birds survive incredible migratory journeys over extraordinary distances. Learn about bird conservation through hands-on activities, displays and biofact demonstrations. Attend the World Animal Encounters Show at 11 a.m. to meet some birds and other animals up-close! Show also runs on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Beautiful Music and Picnics

Join us for a special Mother's Day Concert by the New Mexico Philharmonic on Sunday, May 12 at 2 p.m. at the Zoo. Avoid the crowds by coming early and taking the free park-and-ride service, offered 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. from sponsor Park It Place on Central and 6th or from the Aquarium/Botanic Garden.

All events are included with regular admission. For more information, email [email protected] or dial 311 locally (505-768-2000).
