Description
The High Desert Playboys are one of Albuquerque's premier live dance bands. Led by singer/songwriter Clark Andrew Libbey, they play a unique blend of original and modern americana, high energy bluegrass, classic country, country gospel, western swing, cajun and zydeco standards.
Some of the artists they feature include John Prine, Peter Rowan, Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Clifton Chenier, Hank Williams Sr, Dr. John, Old Crow Medicine Show, The Avett Brothers, Gillian Welch, as well as songs from the American songbook.
They have been barnstorming throughout New Mexico for the last 7 years and have garnered a reputation for upbeat old school dance sets that feature soulful vocals, delicate harmonies and an exciting mixture of classic and original songs. They recently released a zydeco single, “Cold Ground”, on Slow Start Records.
