Rio Grande Triangle Dog Park Temporarily Closed for Tree Maintenance

Crews will be removing three declining cottonwoods and pruning other older cottonwoods.

Forestry crews from the City of Albuquerque Parks and Recreation Department will be performing some much-needed tree maintenance at the Rio Grande Triangle Dog Park, which will require the temporary closure of the park. Crews will be removing three dead cottonwoods and pruning the other older cottonwoods in the park to keep the park safe for all of the two- and four-legged visitors.

Because of the nature of the work, the park will be closed from 6:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. every day until Friday, April 24. If the work is finished early, the park will reopen at that time.

Once completed, the City Forester will assess the park and irrigation needs to develop a tree replacement plan to help rebuild the tree canopy lost from the removal of the dead trees.
