Albuquerque,

As we head into summer, it's so important that we all do our part to prevent fires in our own environment, and that we support our neighbors across the state who are going through devastating times. For us here in Albuquerque, that means keeping an eye out on our bosque and other outdoor spaces, and saying something if you see something so that our firefighters can respond quickly. For our statewide neighbors, we've made resources available like places to stay, meals, childcare, shelter kits, and more to help folks through this. We're lucky here in our city to have these resources, and it's the right thing to do to share and make them available to folks in need all over New Mexico. Our state's neighborly spirit holds us together, so throughout the summer I encourage us all to do what we can to support each other.

We're also keeping our neighbors in Texas in our hearts in the wake of this week's tragedy. Gun violence touches us every day here at home. This cannot keep happening in our communities and especially to our children. We need action at every level to bring about gun reform.

Let's continue to work together and help one another throughout this summer.

Sincerely,

Mayor Tim Keller
