Special Funds Help International District

Community Development Block Grant Improves Neighborhood

October 30, 2018

Mayor Tim Keller announced a 3.5 million dollar grant for sidewalk and roadway improvements for the Trumbull Village Neighborhood Association in the International District. This grant comes from the Community Development Block Grant Program otherwise known as CDBG.

The CDBG Program provides annual grants to cities to develop urban communities by providing a suitable living environment and by expanding economic opportunities for low to moderate income families. The CDBG Program is administered through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

“We are excited by the efforts the Department of Family and Community Services put into getting this money,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “The Trumbull Village Neighborhood has been put on the back burners too long and being able to improve one of the most cultural and hardworking neighborhoods in the city should give all residents in that area a renewed sense of pride.”

Trumbull Village Neighborhood Association Improvements include:

  • Increased and Updated ADA Compliance
  • New Roadway Asphalt
  • Curb and Gutter Repairs
  • Sidewalk and Drive Pad Improvements
  • Manhole adjustments
  • Striping as needed.

This 3.5 million dollar project boundaries are Zuni to the north, Southern to the south, Louisiana to the west and Pennsylvania to the east. An additional 1 million dollars of this grant is being used for neighborhood improvements citywide. The Department of Municipal Development and Family and Community Services worked together to make this project a reality.
