City to Honor The Godfather of New Mexico Music, Al Hurricane

May 7th Concert and proposal to name stage on Civic Plaza after the legendary musician

On May 1st, the City Council will discuss a proclamation and a resolution celebrating the six decade career of the godfather of New Mexico music, Al Hurricane.  The resolution, R-17-173, will rename the stage and buildings on Civic Plaza as the “Al Hurricane Pavilion at Civic Plaza.”  Al Hurricane is a New Mexico music legend who has brought Norteño music to audiences throughout the United States and Mexico for over 60 years. Just six days later, on May 7, there will be a concert at the Al Hurricane Pavilion at Civic Plaza celebrating his legacy. The concert will feature an incredible lineup of New Mexico artists.
