Tribute Area

In the 2011 General Obligation Bond Program, the Citizens of Albuquerque approved $500,000 for the development of this Tribute Area, and the Cultural Services Department contributed another $85,000.
The Sandia Peak Ski and Sandia Peak Tram Companies provided an additional $250,000 in 2012. With this money, Phase One of the four acre park has been developed (pictured above). It has a strong graphic design visible from the air, and provides a framework for future improvements including the development of a balloon demonstration area.
As the Tribute Area develops, it will be playful and inviting for children and adults, and connect the Anderson-Abruzzo International Balloon Museum with the multi-use Balloon Fiesta Park.
With your support, the completed Tribute Area will provide an outdoor space for the remembrance and celebration of courageous balloonists.
