Stop Work Order Lifted for Vexus Fiber
Vexus Fiber has met all requirements of the stop work order that was placed on the internet service provider (ISP) on March 20, 2025, and construction related to installation of fiber internet infrastructure by Vexus Fiber can resume on Monday, July 14, 2025.
After several violations of the City the Barricading Ordinance, the 2020 Edition City Standards for Public Works Construction, and/or the State Pipeline Regulations Excavation Handbook, the ISP was required to stop all new construction and work with the City to come into compliance. The Department of Municipal Development, the Planning Department, and the Department of Technology and Innovation have met weekly with the Vexus Fiber to provide education and track updates to required remediation.
“We are making sure these companies are overall being a better neighbor in our city by being more organized, providing better oversight of their contractors, and addressing all resident complaints more quickly and thoroughly,” said Catherine Nicolaou, Broadband Program Manager.
Ezee Fiber is currently on a stop work order since May 7, 2025. That order is due to be removed on Monday, July 14.
“We’re eager to bring fiber broadband to our City and expand affordable, accessible, and reliable service to residents. But, we have to do construction in a safe way that respects neighborhoods,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “With these new rules, we can ensure these companies are holding up their end of the bargain and doing work the right way, and address issues immediately if they aren’t.”
The City of Albuquerque has also recently implemented new rules for construction of fiber internet infrastructure.
