Albuquerque RSVP Volunteers Celebrated for More Than 44,500 Hours of Service

Volunteers, community partners and guests recently gathered at Embassy Suites Albuquerque for the 2026 RSVP Appreciation Breakfast, celebrating dedicated service that strengthens communities throughout Albuquerque.

Through AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP and the City of Albuquerque Department of Senior Affairs, volunteers contributed more than 44,500 hours of service across 57 community stations over the past year, with their time valued at more than $1.6 million.

A highlight of the annual breakfast was recognition of the 2026 RSVP award recipients:

• Exceptional Station of the Year — Palo Duro Senior Center
• Substantial Station of the Year — New Mexico Veterans Memorial
• Rookie of the Year — Ruth Castrodad
• Volunteer of the Year — Bob Martinez
• RSVP Lifetime Achievement Award — Terri Alyce Bixter

In a welcome message included in the event program, Mayor Tim Keller thanked RSVP volunteers for their service and the impact they make across Albuquerque. “Your talents and generosity reflect the spirit of Albuquerque—neighbors coming together to build a strong, vibrant, and inclusive community,” Keller wrote.

AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP connects adults 55 and older with meaningful volunteer opportunities through nonprofit and government organizations across Albuquerque. Through the City of Albuquerque’s RSVP program, AmeriCorps Seniors enrolls, places and supports volunteers serving in settings including health and social service agencies, schools, libraries, museums and government agencies.
