Suspect Arrested for Weekend Homicide along Sunset Gardens

ALBUQUERQUE – Albuquerque Police have charged Fransisco Espinoza Almeida Jr. 21, for the homicide of Allen Sandoval on January 22, 2022.
Almeida was taken into custody by New Mexico State Police in northern New Mexico on the afternoon of January 24 and was brought back to Albuquerque.
On the 22nd, a call came into 911 from a residence on Sunset Garden Road S.W. that Almeida Jr. had entered the residence that morning and shot and killed Mr. Sandoval.
It was learned from another individual inside the residence that Mr. Sandoval was in the back bedroom when Almeida Jr. showed up to the home where his ex-girlfriend was. Witnesses say he was banging on the front door before forcing his way inside. Upon making entry, Almeida Jr. went down a hallway into the bedroom where Mr. Sandoval was and shot him several times. Almeida Jr. then fled the scene in a vehicle recognized by witnesses.
Fransisco Espinoza Almeida Jr. has been charged with an Open Count of Murder. He will be booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center.
