Monday, Nov. 28, 2022

ALBUQUERQUE – A suspect in an August double homicide was arrested today by the U.S. Marshal Service in Mountainair.

Jayme Olson, 27, is accused of fatally shooting Nicole Amaya, 33, and Bernabe Jurado, 49, following a fight at an apartment complex on Aug. 28, 2022.

Officers responded at 5:21 a.m. on the morning of Aug. 28, 2022 to a shooting call at 9223 Marron Circle, N.E., which is near Lomas Blvd and I-25. Officers arrived and located Amaya and Jurado with gunshot wounds. They both died on scene.

Through investigation, APD homicide detectives learned Olson’s girlfriend had been in a verbal and physical altercation with Amaya over money and property. Witnesses said Olson shot Amaya, then shot Jurado because he was a witness.

Olson was charged last month with two open counts of murder and tampering with evidence for the murder. He will be booked into the Metro Detention Center.
