ALBUQUERQUE – The Albuquerque Police Department has charged Jeremiah Anderson, 24, with Child Abuse (without resulting in great bodily harm).

In late November, officers were dispatched to a residence in regards to three videos showing a man severely beating an infant inside a home. The family stated they received the videos from the child’s mother and they were believed to have been recorded approximately three months prior.

The child was located safe with his mother and was taken to UNMH for a precautionary evaluation.

Upon further investigation, detectives reviewed the videos recorded on home surveillance which show a male punching the infant several times with a closed fist. Through further investigation and interviews, the male was identified as Jeremiah Anderson, the father of the child.

On December 7, 2021, Anderson willingly came to the Albuquerque Police Department to provide an interview stating he had too much alcohol at the time and took anger out on the child due to custody issues. He admitted he would “occasionally lose it” and beat the child in a similar manner.

Anderson was arrested and remains in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center.
