ALBUQUERQUE – APD’s Crisis Intervention Unit filed a request with the FBI to prevent an individual with concerning behavior from being able to purchase a firearm.

Officers in the APD’s Northwest Area Command have had increasing concerns regarding an individual who has been charged with multiple batteries and an assault charge. The majority of the charges have been in connection to actions she has taken against her neighbors.

This individual has generated multiple calls for service in her neighborhood regarding threats to her neighbors and for throwing objects from her home. A detective from the CIT Unit has built a rapport with the woman and has tried connecting her to services. During their communication, she has admitted to using illegal substances and she said she feels targeted by individuals in her neighborhood.

Due to the increasing concern over the woman’s behavior and calls for service, the CIT detective filed a National Instant Background Check (NICS) form to prevent her from legally purchasing a firearm.
