Community Helps Raise $2,000 during National Coffee with a Cop Day

APD Hosts Successful National Coffee with a Cop Day, but Funds are Still Needed for Annual Cops for Kids Program.

The Albuquerque Police Department has put together a video to help raise money for and ensure the success of its annual Cops for Kids program.

Friday, October 7th was the first annual National Coffee with a Cop day. APD decided to spice things up while participating. Not only did the department have coffee, but it also served delicious Frito pies and posole thanks to Officer Vicente Martinez and his family. Well over one hundred people showed up to celebrate and enjoy some fellowship with their officers.

Donations were accepted to help fund the Cops for Kids program which is a partnership through Crime Stoppers. The community generously helped raise more than $2,000, but that’s only half of the expected $4,000 goal.

Cops for Kids takes place every December and ensures less fortunate children in our community have clothes, food, and a little fun and during the holiday season. Last year the department sponsored 100 children.
