Auto Theft Unit, Intel and Air Support Make 3 Overnight Arrests

Multiple units within the Albuquerque Police Department worked ab overnight operation resulting in three auto theft arrests.

ALBUQUERQUE – Multiple units within the Albuquerque Police Department worked an overnight operation resulting in three auto theft arrests.

On the evening of December 8, 2022, Detectives with Auto Theft and Intel were conducting surveillance with the assistance of Air Support of an occupied stolen vehicle in the Northeast Area Command. The vehicle was located at a business along Paseo Del Norte and the driver, Damarco Tomlin was arrested for Receiving /Transferring Stolen Motor Vehicles.

 

The team located another occupied stolen vehicle in the Foothills Area Command and began conducting Chantel Martinez surveillance. The vehicle was tracked to the area of Constitution and Eubank. A plan was formulated to spike belt the vehicle while it was stationary at a business parking lot. The plan was successful and the vehicle was followed to Espanola and Zuni. The driver, Chantel Martinez was detained without incident. Martinez had a Federal Marshalls warrant for robbery and was booked for Receiving/Transferring Stolen Motor Vehicles along with her warrant.

The team then conducted further surveillance on a third occupied stolen vehicle located in the Southeast Area Command. The vehicle was followed to the area of Southern and Eubank where a plan was formulated to utilize a vehicle stopping device. The vehicle was successfully stopped by detectives and the driver, Juan Santa Cruz Ramirez fled on foot. Air Support maintained visual and detectives were able to place him under arrest. Santa Cruz Ramirez was arrested for a misdemeanor warrant and Receiving/Transferring Stolen Motor Vehicles.
