APD Warns Residents of Alarming Scam
The Albuquerque Police Department is warning residents of scam that has recently targeted individuals in the city. Other agencies across the nation have investigated similar schemes called the “You’re Next” scam.

The Albuquerque Police Department is warning residents of scam that has recently targeted individuals in the city. Other agencies across the nation have investigated similar schemes called the “You’re Next” scam.
The scammers usually send frightening text messages and disturbing images to encourage the receiving party to send them money, upwards of $2,000.
The scammers have even threated to kill the person or their family if they don’t receive payment.
Although alarming, APD encourages anyone receiving the messages to block the number and report a complaint to the FBI at this website, www.ic3.gov.
APD is actively investigating and tracking several reports that recently came in.
