Homicide Investigation: 10400 Vista Del Sol Dr NW

APD homicide detectives learned the suspect, who was accused of killing his wife and dismembering her body on Nov. 24, 2022, died while being treated at the hospital. Karlan Denio was charged with the murder of his wife, Connie Denio, during what appeared to be a mental health crisis. Karlan Denio suffered from self-inflicted knife wounds and he was transported to the hospital once officer arrested him on Nov. 24. Denio passed away while under medical care at UNMH.

Homicide Investigation: 6507 Cochiti Rd SE

APD’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit was investigating a shooting from Nov. 27, 2022, involving a 36-year-old man who was critically injured at a residence located at 6507 Cochiti Rd. S.E. The man was transported to a hospital to treat his injuries. Detectives learned victim later died on Dec. 7, 2022, as a result of his injuries. APD’s Homicide is now investigating the incident as a homicide. The victim’s name has not been release, pending notification of next of kin.
