APD releases preliminary details of Downtown shooting, Officer-Involved shooting

ALBUQUERQUE – APD officers responded overnight at 1:15 a.m. to a fight in Downtown Albuquerque. As officers arrived, they witnesses a male shoot and kill Melina Jones, 21, in the parking lot at 2nd St. and Central Ave., S.W.

Following the homicide, at least one APD officer fired at least on round at the offender of the homicide. Based on this a full Multi-Agency Task Force call out was initiated.

Detectives do not have any suspect information at this time.
