ALBUQUERQUE – APD released updated homicide numbers today for 2021 and 2022.

The total number of homicides, or non-negligent manslaughter, investigated by APD detectives has been revised to 112 victims. Four investigations that continued into this year have been closed as justifiable homicides, reducing the total number of homicides from 116 to 112. The four cases are:

  • 21-0041198 (223 63rd St NW on 5/29/2021)
  • 21-0049793 (5920 Osuna Rd NE on 6/27/2021)
  • 21-0087386 (609 Grove St SE on 11/2/2021)
  • 21-0096639 (1501 3rd St SW on 11/3/2021)

An updated list of the 112 homicide investigations can be found on APD’s web site.

The total number of homicides, or non-negligent manslaughter, investigated by APD detectives, so far this year, has been revised to 109 victims. Two recent investigations – one involving an infant who died in the care of his parents, and another where two men struggled over a firearm – are being considered negligent manslaughter. Those are counted separately than homicides under FBI guidelines.

An updated list of the 109 homicide investigations can also be found on APD’s web site.
