APD Provides Update on Fatal Crash

ALBUQUERQUE – On Friday December 10th 2021, at approximately 6:40a.m.,  a fatal crash occurred in the area of 2210 Central Avenue S.W. involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. 

A gray 2007 Toyota Camry being driven by a male was traveling eastbound on Central Ave at a high rate of speed.  The male pedestrian was walking eastbound on the south sidewalk of Central Ave SW.  The driver of the Toyota Camry lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway striking the pedestrian on the sidewalk. 

The male pedestrian sustained life threatening injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to UNMH but died while on the way to the hospital.  At the time of the crash, the roads were wet due rain.  Speed appears to be a factor in the crash.  Alcohol was not a factor on the part of the driver.  The investigation is ongoing at this time.
