On July 31, 2021 at approximately 2:00a.m. the Motor Unit was called out to a fatal crash located at 98th St. SW and Tower Rd SW.  During the investigation it was learned a motorcyclist was headed Northbound on 98th St. from Tower Rd SW.  A four-door sedan was traveling Southbound on 98th St. SW and made a turn Eastbound towards Demi Rd SW.

The sedan turned in front of the motorcyclist causing the motorcycle to T-Bone the sedan.  The motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle.  The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet and received significant head trauma.  The individual was transported to UNMH in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.

The occupants of the sedan remained on scene and did provide statements to the primary motor officer.  The sedan was sealed by the CSS unit for the purposes of potentially obtaining a warrant for the vehicle.  This investigation is ongoing.  At this time it does not appear alcohol was a factor for the crash.  It does appear speed from the motorcycle and improper driving was a factor for the crash.
