APD Officer Involved in Crash in SW Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE – An APD Officer was involved in a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian last night just before 7:00pm. The officer was traveling north on 98^th Street, just north of Central Avenue, headed to the Northeast Area Command for shift. Just before Central Avenue, the police vehicle struck a pedestrian that had stepped into the lane of traffic. The officer immediately notified dispatch and requested emergency personnel.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with critical, but non-life threatening injuries.

The early investigation shows speed was not a factor and the officer applied brakes before hitting the pedestrian. The Multi-Agency Fatal Callout Team was contacted to assist with the investigation.
