APD Museum Welcomes Kids and Families for Summer Tours
ALBUQUERQUE – If you’re looking for something fun and educational to do with the kids this summer, the Albuquerque Police Department has you covered.
The department’s museum is now open for summer tours and invites families, youth groups, and curious young minds to come explore the history of law enforcement in our city.
Located on the first floor of APD Main at 400 Roma, directly across from City Hall, the museum offers an inside look at how policing in Albuquerque has evolved over the decades. Kids can see historic uniforms, old patrol cars, vintage equipment, and learn about the people and events that helped shape the department.
The museum is dedicated in memory of former Police Chief Paul A. Shaver, who led the department through a time of major growth and modernization from 1948 to 1971. His leadership laid the foundation for many of the systems and practices still in use today.
Whether your child dreams of being a police officer, enjoys local history, or just loves a good field trip, the APD Museum is a great summer stop for all ages.
Tours are available Monday through Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. To schedule your visit, please email [email protected].
Take a break from the heat and step into the history of APD this summer!
