ALBUQUERQUE -- APD detectives are currently looking for Vicente Reyes for the shooting death of his girlfriend during a domestic dispute on Monday in northeast Albuquerque.

Officers were dispatched Monday shortly before noon when a 911 caller reported that her brother shot his girlfriend in the head at a home at 3125 Ortiz Dr. NE, near San Mateo Blvd and Candelaria Rd. The victim was identified as Misty Muniz, 32.

Witnesses told detectives that Reyes, 38, had been involved in a verbal argument with Muniz on Sunday that continued Monday morning. Witnesses said the couple had a history of fighting and that Reyes threatened to kill Muniz in the past.

Monday’s confrontation turned physical. Witnesses said they heard a pop in the room where Reyes and Muniz were fighting. They observed Reyes with a gun and saw that Muniz had been shot in the head. Reyes acknowledged that he shot Muniz before he fled the residence with his gun and other belongings, according to witnesses in the house.

Reyes is charged with an open count of murder.
