APD investigating North Valley shooting as possible justifiable homicide

ALBUQUERQUE – APD detectives are investigating Saturday’s fatal shooting in the North Valley as a possible justifiable homicide.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire early Saturday at 12:13 a.m. at 201 Claremont Ave., N.W., which is near 2nd St. and south of Candelaria Rd. N.W.

One individual, later identified as Oscar Platas, 35, died at the scene of gunshot wounds. Two other men were located with gunshot wounds. They were treated and released from a local hospital.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident that involved the three men. Preliminary evidence suggests the fatal shooting was in self-defense. The investigation is on-going.
