APD investigating fatal, overnight crash in North Valley

ALBUQUERQUE – APD investigators are investigating a single-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of the driver.

Officers were dispatched to the crash Friday around 11 p.m. in the area of Candelaria Rd., N.E. and Edith Blvd. N.E. The Fatal Crash Unit responded to the scene to investigate.

Through the investigation it was discovered that a red Geo Tracker was traveling west on Candelaria Rd. in the westbound lanes. The vehicle appears to have struck the center median and then lost control just west of Edith Blvd. The vehicle then spun once and continued sideways west on Candelaria until it struck a light post on the north sidewalk at about Candelaria and Franciscan St., N.E.

The driver died on scene. Speed and alcohol were believed factors.
