APD Identifies Man Shot by Police

ALBUQUERQUE – The Albuquerque Police Department released the identity of the man who was critically injured during an officer-involved shooting on Friday.

David Martinez (4/29/1995) was armed with a rifle when he was shot by police on Aug. 20, 2021. Officers attempted to arrest Martinez outside a home at 1811 Arno S.E., but he fled the area on foot, carrying a rifle. Martinez was shot as he attempted to carjack a nearby driver on Broadway Blvd. S.E.

The investigation into the officer-involved shooting is ongoing.
