ALBUQUERQUE – APD detectives solved a 9-year-old cold case by arresting a man for the 2014 murder of a woman who was found in her home bound with duct tape.

Cold case detectives were investigating the death of Danette Webb, a 53-year-old woman who volunteered at Noonday ministries at the time of her death on June 27, 2014. Co-workers were concerned when she did not show up for work that day. Her deceased body was discovered at her home, located at 415 Mayfair Pl., S.W.

Detectives had few leads over the years, but they developed a lead this year that led to a suspect who also worked with Webb at Noonday in the past. An APD detective and an FBI agent interviewed the suspect, Lance Beaton, on Wednesday. Detectives returned to Beaton’s residence on Thursday to execute a search warrant for his DNA.

Detectives learned today that the DNA sample for Beaton matched the DNA from the scene of the 2014 murder. Beaton, who is now 59, was arrested today after detectives secured an arrested warrant. He is charged with an open count of murder in connection with Webb’s death.

Beaton is being processed and will be booked into the Metro Detention Center.
