APD charges man for shooting death of friend

ALBUQUERQUE – APD detectives arrested Jahiem Burns on Wednesday and charged him with involuntary manslaughter following the shooting death of his friend.

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, at 6021 Anderson Ave. S.E. A male victim, who has not been positively identified, died at the scene.

Burns told detectives he and his friend were “horseplaying” with the handgun when a round went off, striking the friend in the face. The friend died as a result of the gunshot wound.
