APD Arrests Violent Offenders in Two Road Rage Incidents

ALBUQUERQUE - The Albuquerque Police Department arrested two violent offenders in the last 24 hours who were responsible for dangerous road rage incidents.

Location: 400 Wyoming Blvd NE

 

APD Gang Unit detectives arrested Richard Saravia, Jr. today and charged him for shooting at another motorist and beating the victim during a road rage incident on Sept. 15, 2021.

 

During the road rage incident Saravia, 40, armed himself with a .45 caliber handgun and shot at another driver as that person drove away. The driver stopped his vehicle a short distance away and Saravia followed him and stopped as well. Mr. Saravia beat the other driver unconscious and fled the scene. Saravia was believed to be a member of the "Disciples" Motorcycle Gang. The Gang Unit was notified and took over the investigation.

 

After a lengthy investigation, detectives secured an arrest warrant for Saravia. He was located at his place of employment and arrested. A handgun was also recovered.

Location: Juan Tabo Blvd and Lomas Blvd NE

 

APD Impact Unit detectives and officers in the Foothills Area Command arrested Joseph Turner on Tuesday and charged him with shooting at the driver of another vehicle during a road rage incident on Oct. 10, 2021.

 

Turner, 25, allegedly drove aggressively on westbound I-40, cutting off vehicles and pointing a firearm at other drivers. Turner followed a victim as she exited onto Juan Tabo Blvd. and nearly struck her with his truck. The victim heard what she believed was a gunshot when the truck was behind her. As she drove toward APD’s Foothills Substation, she saw Turner point handgun at her and fire toward her. She made it to the substation and saw Turner do repeatedly drive by her location until police contacted her.

 

An APD detective investigated the incident and located surveillance video showing portions of the incident. After identifying Turner as the suspect, detectives obtained an arrest warrant and arrested Turner on Tuesday. Detectives executed a search warrant on the offender’s truck and located a loaded 9mm handgun in the center console matching the firearm utilized in the incident per the victim.
