Nov. 16, 2022

APD officers tracked down and arrested three juveniles Tuesday afternoon shortly after they committed an armed carjacking at Jeanne Bellamah Park, located at 11516 Summer Ave., N.E. One of the juveniles fired a gunshot as the teens fled in the vehicle.

Less than an hour later, around 1:10 p.m., APD’s helicopter, Air 1, located the stolen vehicle in the Southeast Area Command. The vehicle was followed and ultimately abandoned by the male offenders, who fled on foot.

One of the three males was apprehended by SE field units and the two others were taken into custody with the assistance of a PSD.

Two firearms (one stolen) and two BB guns were recovered in the immediate area of the male suspects’ apprehension. An interview was done with one of the male offenders, identified as Nicolas Buehler who provided a detailed statement as to what occurred and placed himself, Wyatt Ruiz and Trell Wiersema at the park committing the carjacking.

Buehler, Ruiz and Wiersema were booked into Juvenile Detention Center for Armed Robbery, Conspiracy and other charges related to the crimes committed.
