Tuesday, May 23, 2023

ALBUQUERQUE – APD detectives utilized Downtown cameras to help solve a shooting over the weekend that seriously injured a food truck vendor.

Detectives used the cameras to identify the suspect vehicle and track down the suspect today at a Northeast Heights apartment complex. Officers arrested the suspect, Ambrosia Mirabal following a traffic stop.

Mirabal, 27, told detectives she drank alcohol and took illegal drugs prior to driving up to the food truck at Central Ave. and 3rd St., N.W. early Sunday, May 21, 2023. Mirabal said she was upset at her “baby daddy” for talking to another woman, and she intended to shoot her handgun toward him to scare him. But the bullet struck a woman who operated the food truck.

Mirabal fled the scene in a black sedan, but APD’s extensive network of surveillance cameras Downtown captured the shooting, the vehicle description and the license plate. Witnesses also identified a black sedan with a female driver who fired a gun.

Detectives executed a search warrant on Mirabal's apartment and located a semi-automatic handgun that she stated was the gun used in the shooting.

Mirabal was booked on an arrest warrant stemming from the charges related to the shooting.
