Thursday, June 8, 2023

ALBUQUERQUE – APD detectives arrested a suspect in the June 1, 2023, murder of an 18-year-old near man at Laurelwood Park on Albuquerque’s West Side.

Homicide detectives arrested Jorge Luevano on Wednesday and charged him for the shooting death of Adrian Porras. Detectives found social media messages that showed Porras was on his way to meet with Luevano on June 1 to sell him cartridges of marijuana liquid. Officers arrived at the scene at 6:25 p.m. and located Porras deceased inside his car, which was located near the intersection of Hanover Rd. and 80th St., N.W.

During the investigation, detectives matched casings from the gun used during the homicide to several recent shootings in Albuquerque. APD’s Digital Intelligence Team also used cell phone and social media data and messages to connect the shootings to the homicide and tie Luevano to the scenes of the shootings.

Detectives secured an arrest warrant for Luevano and arrested him Wednesday in Southeast Albuquerque.
