ALBUQUERQUE – APD detectives arrested Quebin Caserez this afternoon for the June 2023 stabbing death of a man in Southwest Albuquerque.

Caserez, 27, is accused of killing Alfred Duran, 40, on June 20, 2023 outside a church at 9800 Benavides Rd., S.W. Duran was stabbed 15 times and died at the scene.

A witness saw Caserez run from the scene carrying a knife. She took photos of the suspect, which were later shared with the public through Crime Stoppers on June 29. The next day, Duran’s girlfriend told detectives she recognized the photo of the suspect, who she said recently borrowed Duran’s bike and did not return it. She said Duran was going to confront the man about the bike the next time he saw him.

Several other witnesses identified Caserez from the Crime Stopper photos. Another individual told detectives they overheard Caserez tell someone he got into a fight with Duran and stabbed him.

Detectives with APD’s Investigative Support Unit arrested Caserez today shortly before 4 p.m. He will be booked into the Metro Detention Center on an open count of murder, armed robbery and tampering with evidence.
