APD arrests man for child abuse resulting in death

Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022

ALBUQUERQUE –  APD detectives and deputy U.S. Marshals arrested Adam Garcia today for Child Abuse Resulting in Death.

Garcia, 24, is accused of killing his 5-month-old daughter, Trinity Garcia, earlier this year. The baby died as a result of blunt head trauma, according to an autopsy.

On Feb. 13, 2022, APD detectives responded to a report of abuse on an infant child who was suffering from a brain bleed. The infant, later determined to be Trinity Garcia, was brought in by their mother who stated the infant was having respiratory issues. Based on other injuries and symptoms the infant was presenting, doctors believed it was caused by inflicted trauma.

Detectives spoke with the Trinity Garcia’s mother who said she could not recall an event that would have caused the injuries. When detectives spoke with the father, Adam Garcia, he explained the injuriescould have happened when he placed the child in the crib, then changed what he stated to “we”.

Through further investigation, and an evaluation of Trinity Garcia, additional injuries were found throughout the infant’s body and it was determined she likely wouldn’t survive. On March 16, Trinity Garcia succumbed to her injuries.

In June, detectives received the autopsy report which determined Trinity Garcia died as a result of blunt head trauma and the manner of death was homicide.  In August, further medical records were received and detectives were able to get a warrant for the arrest of Adam Garcia.

On Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022, APD detectives with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested Garcia on the outstanding warrant for Child Abuse Resulting in Death and will be booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center.
