APD Arrests Drunk Driver who reached speeds of 140 mph on city streets

APD’s Traffic Division partnered with the New Mexico State Police to target illegal street racing, speeding, careless and reckless driving.

ALBUQUERQUE- APD’s Traffic Division partnered with the New Mexico State Police to target illegal street racing, speeding, careless and reckless driving.

The traffic enforcement operation Friday night resulted in 176 citations and 4 DWI arrests, as well as an arrest of driver who reached speeds of 140 miles per hour on Montgomery Blvd. N.E.

Officers spotted a 2020 Dodge Charger Hellcat traveling 100, 126 and 140 miles per hour on Montgomery. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but he fled and continued to drive recklessly. With the assistance of APD Air Support, the vehicle was tracked driving recklessly throughout the City with no police in the area. The driver finally pulled into the Dirty Bourbon parking lot and attempted to walk away from the vehicle. Air Support continued to surveil the driver until he was taken into custody.

He was identified as Adam Pacino. He was found to be extremely intoxicated and in possession of a loaded handgun. He was arrested for Aggravated Fleeing a Law Enforcement Officer, Reckless Driving, Negligent Use of a Firearm and Aggravated DWI.

Officers had the following enforcement action during the 5-hour operation:

  • 8-Modified Exhaust Citations
  • 4-DWI Arrests
  • Arrest for Negligent Use of a Firearm
  • Arrest for Aggravated Fleeing a Law Enforcement Officer
  • Reckless Driving Citation
  • 11- Reports Taken
  • 9- Towed Vehicles
