APD Arrests 2 Suspects, including Metro 15 Offender, for Shooting after Juneteenth Celebration

APD officers arrested two men late Saturday in connection to a shooting at Roosevelt Park following the Juneteenth Celebration.

APD officers arrested two men late Saturday in connection to a shooting at Roosevelt Park following the Juneteenth Celebration.

The two men were seen by officers shooting into the air from a car as they drove by Roosevelt Park. APD’s Air Unit followed the vehicle until officers were able to make an arrest. One individual fled on foot from officers, but was captured.

Michael Kirkwood, 35, was booked into the Metro Detention Center on charges of shooting at/from a motor vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, Elgin King, was on APD’s Metro 15 list. King, 36, was arrested on several charges, including: 3 counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, 2 counts of Resist/Obstruct an Officer, Distribution/Possession with Intent to Distribute, and Leave Scene of Accident without Injury.

APD’s Narcotics Unit will continue to investigate.
