Tax & Rev Location Codes
Effective July 1, 2025, any business operating within one of Albuquerque’s designated Tax Increment Financing (TIF) districts must report gross receipts tax (GRT) using the district’s assigned Location Code.
Each Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district has a unique location code that must be used when filing gross receipts tax (GRT) for business activity conducted within its boundary. These updates ensure that tax revenue generated in each area is reinvested directly into that community through infrastructure, beautification, business support, and housing improvements.
Albuquerque's designated TIF districts:
- Downtown TIF District: Location Code 02-701
- West Central TIF District: Location Code 02-703
This change does not affect the tax rate; it only changes the reporting code used during tax filing.

Why it Matters:
Using the correct location code ensures local tax revenue is captured and reinvested back into the TIF district where it was generated. These investments may include:
- Improved lighting and streetscapes
- More boutique grants for businesses
- Beautification projects
- Infrastructure improvements, such as better sidewalks and public amenities
- New housing
