Turn Your Blank Wall into a Neighborhood Landmark
$750 grants available to bring new murals to your property
ALBUQUERQUE - Have a wall that’s begging for a burst of color? Dreaming of turning a plain façade into a piece of art that stops people in their tracks? The Murals of Possibilities Grant can help make it happen, offering funding for property owners, businesses, and artists to team up and create murals that transform spaces and inspire neighborhoods.
The grant offers up to $750 per project to cover artist fees, design, materials, and installation for new murals in one of Albuquerque’s Metropolitan Redevelopment Areas (MR Areas). Murals can be interior or exterior, but must be accessible to the public.
"Murals are a wonderful way to uplift local artists and showcase the vibrancy, uniqueness, and warmth of our city and our communities,” said Kaleena Madruga, Sol Housing Community Relations Manager. “When residents, visitors, and pedestrians are welcomed by a mural, they feel a sense of connectedness and belonging. Each of Sol Housing's properties have a distinctive identity. Incorporating art into these spaces further uplifts our vision of everyone creating community, connection, and joy in a home of their choice."
“Murals tell the story of who we are and where we’re headed,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “Every splash of color adds life to our streets and pride to our neighborhoods. The Murals of Possibilities grant supports property owners to be part of that story.”
From selecting the artist to shaping the design, the program is designed to let residents and local artists take the lead.
“Our role at the City is to help turn those visions into reality,” said MRA Director Terry Brunner. “We are aiming to close the financial gaps that can keep great ideas from taking shape.”
