Let’s Get This Block Party Started

ALBUQUERQUE - Is your block ready for music, games, and neighborly fun? Whether you're planning a vendor pop-up live performance, a local art showcase, or just a good old-fashioned community cookout, the “Party Block” sponsorship can help bring your event to life.

 

The Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency (MRA) is offering $500 grants to support block parties in designated Metropolitan Redevelopment (MR) Areas across Albuquerque. This grant aims to foster community engagement through business- and neighborhood-led events that activate spaces, strengthen connections, and highlight Albuquerque’s vibrancy—through music, food, art, and more.

 

“Great cities are built by great communities, and this grant helps celebrate the people and neighborhoods that make Albuquerque special,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “Whether it’s music, food, or just good conversation, we’re excited to help residents turn their streets into spaces for connection and celebration.”

 

“Block parties are a powerful way to build community and bring energy back to our streets,” said Terry Brunner, MRA Director. “Whether you’re a local business, a neighborhood group, or just someone with a great idea, this grant helps make it happen.”

 

Here’s what to know:

• Grant Amount: $500 per event

• Eligibility: Events must be located within an MR Area. Applicants can be a business, resident, or neighborhood association.

• Applications must be submitted at least 60 days before the event date

• Competitive Application: Open until funds are depleted

• Annual Limit: Up to two (2) awards per applicant per fiscal year

 

Applicants must submit an online application, flyer, proposed budget, and a petition of support with at least 70% approval from neighbors or businesses on the block. Events must offer free entry or free activities, and applicants are responsible for securing required City permits.
