Program Overview
The City of Albuquerque’s Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency (MRA) has launched Lot Reimagined, a program that brings new life to vacant, MRA-owned properties.
The Goal
- Activate underutilized spaces
- Increase pedestrian activity
- Inspire local entrepreneurs and community groups
- Strengthen neighborhoods and support economic development
By temporarily transforming vacant lots into hubs of activity, this initiative fosters community pride and creates opportunities for local businesses and organizations.

What to Know About the Lots
- All properties are vacant and unimproved.
- Amenities such as power, water, and restrooms are not provided.
- No financial assistance is available for site improvements or modifications.
- Lots are owned by the MRA and will eventually be redeveloped.
Applicants must:
- Handle all permits and approvals
- Maintain the property (cleaning, waste removal, safety) during use
- Return the lot to its original state once the lease ends
How Applications Are Scored
Applications are reviewed by a committee. Scoring is based on:
- Quality of submission
- Applicant experience
- Proposal readiness
- Quality and quantity of free programming/events offered
- Impact on underserved neighborhoods or support for overlooked entrepreneurs
Extra points may be awarded for strong past performance.
