Hello Albuquerque,
This Memorial Day, our city came together to honor the brave service members who gave their lives for our country. From the parade to the ceremony, it was a powerful reminder of the sacrifice made by so many—and of our shared responsibility to carry their legacy forward by strengthening our communities and supporting one another.
As we move into summer, that spirit of service continues. Splash pads are open to help families stay cool, and with support from community partners, we’re distributing water and sunscreen to those who need it most. Thanks to new renter protections, landlords are now required to provide air conditioning—because in a New Mexico summer, a livable home is a necessity, not a luxury.
This season also marks a historic milestone: after more than a decade, federal oversight of APD has officially ended. This didn’t happen by chance—we embraced reform, rebuilt trust, and showed that accountability and public safety go hand in hand.
We’re also holding internet service providers to higher standards. New rules require fiber companies to notify residents, show identification, limit work hours, and fix issues quickly. Faster internet service shouldn’t come at the cost of torn-up yards or unclear communication.
Our newly approved City budget reflects our values—investing in core services, housing, public safety, and support for working families. With federal funding still at risk, we’re making every dollar count.
From honoring sacrifice to building lasting change, we’re moving Albuquerque forward—together.
Sincerely,
Mayor Tim Keller
